Casita Aventuras 2019 - St. Augustine

Sun, waves, sand, palm tree
Soaking warmth into our souls:

Our blog starts slowly.

St. Augustine - Anastasia State Park - Our First Destination
This is our fourth time staying at Anastasia State Park. It has a beautiful long beach for walking and basking in the sun, a lagoon for kayaking and a campground that looks like a jungle. We walked, basked, biked,  kayaked and enjoyed.

Flagler  College - Ponce de Leon Hotel
Flagler is a college in downtown St. Augustine. It was constructed in the late 1800s as a luxury hotel and became a college in 1968. The signs of luxury are quite evident in the architecture and the interior. Out photos are from a tour we took showing the building through the gate, from the courtyard and then the Tiffany glass in the dining hall, gold leaf rotunda and mosaic floor in the entryway. The spouting frogs are from the fountain in the courtyard. It's not like the college I attended!

In 2014 St. Augustine and its sister city in Spain became the first Compassionate Sister Cities in the world. This obelisk was part of a public art project in 2015-2016 supporting this initiative. It is in the garden of the Sisters of Saint Joseph Motherhouse.

  1. Impressive!! With our recent bitter cold temps, the beach looks very inviting.
